SOOMIN JUNG

Biography

Soomin Jung was born and raised in Seoul, Korea and moved to San Antonio, TX in 2002 to attend the University of Texas at San Antonio. where she received a MFA in printmaking. While she was attending UTSA, Jung also attended the Santa Reparata International School of Art in Florence, Italy in 2005. Jung is known for her meticulous drawing skills, the main medium Jung works with is colored pencils on Drafting film. She also works in painting and uses both traditional and unconventional sculpture media such as polymer clay and fiber. Currently, Jung is an art instructor at the University of Texas at San Antonio and a nationally and internationally exhibiting artist. Her work has shown in Texas, Illinois, Ohio, Louisiana, New York, Missouri, Utah, Toronto and Ontario, Canada, and Florence, Italy. Her exhibition history includes solo and group selected shows such as Texas Biennial in 2011, Texas National 2009, International Drawing Annual in 2008, Bradley International Print and Drawing Exhibitions in 2009 and 2007.
